Three months after Biden's inaugural speech, no sign of it being sincere
Actually not much I strongly disagree with when it comes to the words he spoke three months ago.
"Truth", "Justice", "Unity", "Reason", "Faith", "Respect", "Dignity","Democracy", "Love", "Security", "Opportunity", "Honor".
Not many people are against those things. He did a good job of wrapping himself and his Party with sacred language. The problem is though is that we can say we stand for anything; we can say we are seeking anything; but what we say we are and what we are can be unaligned; what we present ourselves as can be an illusion.
It would be absolutely wonderful if he and the Democratic Party some day live up to the ideals and the promises that he promoted in his speech. I mean, for example, it would be absolutely fantastic if the Democratic Party finally stopped lying about its history. It would be fabulous if the Democratic Party stopped continuously gaslighting the American people. It would be outstanding if the Democratic Party stopped fabricating lies to acquire power. I mean, how strong of a message about their redemption would it be if they offered reparations to the descendants of black slaves, those people they fought a war to keep in chains?
Imagine they said tomorrow, "We feel really bad about the fact that we are living off the labor of slaves who the Democratic Party wanted to keep chained; we feel bad about being the political descendants of a Party of Slavery and the party that nursed the KKK and wrote blacks law and Jim Crow laws. We feel bad that our riches are derived from the sweat and blood of slaves, and the sweat and blood of Union soldiers that fought to keep us from stealing the southern territory of this great nation. We see that the sins of our past and the legacy of slavery must be redeemed by our own wealth and not the wealth of a country that has defeated those sins, and of current Americans who have nothing to do with those sins, many who are immigrants who came long after slavery was abolished by those who defeated us.
Therefore, from this day forth, the Democratic Party will provide reparations paid for by Democrats and the DNC. We have billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Jack Dorsey, and Mike Bloomberg--all loyal Democrats--who are deeply ashamed about the Democratic Party's legacy of slavery and will offer up their wealth for our debt; they all sincerely care about racial justice and therefore wouldn't expect all asian people, white people, and people of other races to be forced to pay the sins of the Democratic Party rather than themselves, who have benefited from the Democratic Party's power, which derives from the wretched institution of slavery, our legacy, our root, our beginning. But that root has been cut out. And we are a new party now. A party for justice and truth. Oh, if you didn't notice, we updated our website and removed the lie that we have been fighting for civil rights for 200 years and correctly begin our timeline before the war for slavery that we fought, and include the shameful events of our past such as blocking reparations and all our fights to keep black people oppressed even after they were freed from legal bondage."
But they won't. I am skeptical of whether they ever will because they don't care at all about "Truth" or "Justice". They only care about power. The Democratic Party always has and I suspect always will. Hopefully, I am proven wrong. But if we care about "Truth" and "Justice" we should definitely reject the Democratic Party's self-narrative and if we wish to continue in the Democratic Party, strongly demand that the Democratic Party reckons with Truth and Justice. That is what someone would do if they love America more than the Democratic Party. America needs healing, indeed, but it will not heal until it understands why it is in pain; and part of why it is in pain is because of the past that the Democratic Party wishes to keep concealed in lies.
Their history according to Democrats.org:
"For more than 200 years, our party has led the fight for civil rights, health care, Social Security, workers’ rights, and women’s rights. We are the party of Barack Obama, John F. Kennedy, FDR, and the countless everyday Americans who work each day to build a more perfect union. Take a look at some of our accomplishments, and you’ll see why we’re proud to be Democrats."
They should just keep it simple and say: "We are the Party of Lies."
Let me end with a quote from Machiavelli, whom the Democratic Party gets its philosophy:
"A prince must take great care never to let anything come from his mouth that is not full of the above-mentioned five qualities, and he must appear to all who see and hear him to be completely pious, completely faithful, completely honest, completely humane, and completely religious. And nothing is more important than to appear to have that last quality. Men judge more by their eyes than by their hands, because everyone can see but few can feel. Everyone can see how you appear, few can feel what you are, and these few will not dare to oppose the opinion of the multitude when it is defended by the majesty of the state. In actions of all men, especially princes, where there is no recourse to justice, the end is all that counts. A prince should only be concerned with conquering or maintaining a state, for the means will always be judged to be honorable and praiseworthy by each and every person, because the masses always follow appearances and the outcomes of affairs, and the world is nothing other than the masses. The few do not find a place wherever the masses are supported. There is a certain prince of our own time, whom it would not be wise to name, who preaches nothing except peace and faith, and yet is the greatest enemy of both; and if he had observed one or the other, he already would have lost both his reputation and his state many times over."
Machiavelli would be proud of Biden's speech.
